Newport County Academy | Temporary Head of Academy Goalkeeping | 2021 Preseason

Led the goalkeeping sessions for the Pro Development Phase (Under 18s), where I was reunited with a former Under 15s Goalkeeper from Merthyr Town, who signed for Newport County as a first-year scholar.

Successfully managed the delicate dynamics between the second year scholar (Training with 1st team), first year scholar and an unsigned training goalkeeper. Ensuring all were able to learn while within the dynamic environment.

Pontypridd Town United AFC | Head of Academy Goalkeeping | 2021 - 2022 Season

Established the goalkeeping department for the brand-new FAW Academy, designing a comprehensive curriculum for all age groups (U8-U16) to ensure a structured pathway for player development. This was an exciting opportunity for everyone involved, including me.

Key challenges included working with goalkeepers from under 8 to under 16, with very little goalkeeping coaching previously, with only one having played academy football before, as the rest came from local grassroot clubs. Although the learning curve was fast, the goalkeepers’ biggest development point was developing the academy mindset.

Additionally, it was great to see that one of the YDP goalkeepers signed with EPPP academy in Newport County at the start of the following pre-season.

Merthyr Town FC | Academy and First Team Goalkeeper Coach | 2019 - 2021 Seasons

Progressed from Academy Goalkeeper Coach to Head of Goalkeeping, taking full responsibility for the development and delivery of the goalkeeping curriculum for both the Youth Development and Foundation Phases.

Successfully prepared an Under-15 goalkeeper for professional academy football, culminating in the player signing for Newport County's Under-18 setup.

Promoted to First Team Goalkeeper Coach, where I developed on my previous experience at Ely Rangers to provide specialist coaching and support in a senior, high-performance environment.

Ely Rangers AFC | First Team Goalkeeper Coach | 2019 - 2020 Season

Working with two goalkeepers, who were both qualified goalkeeper coaches themselves, was a unique experience. Although very different goalkeepers, they both required a lot of support with their confidence coming from two very different environments.

Coaching Experinece

Wales Deaf Futsal Team | Euopena Qualifiers | Goalkeeping Coach |

Working with a close group of staff (4 members), in preparation for the Deaf Futsal European Championships.    We conducted training camps in South and North Wales over the course of our preparation time. This was important to the group that we represented the whole country.

Working with a sign language translator, we were able to communicate our ideas to the group. This was a big learning curve for my ability to use nonverbal communication due to the translator often being with the outfield coaches.

Unfortunately, we were unable to attend the tournament due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Wales 6 A Side Team | Crete World Cup | Assistant Coach | 2019

It was great to get our first win against Belgium, followed with a draw with 2nd seed Poland but unfrotuantly lost our last two games in the group.

Learning from 2018, it was great to see the team much more tactically solid. In preperation for the tournament, I anayslised the location all the goals were scored in the tournamnet to work out the area that is most important for our goalkeepers to have repititions for in training. Additionally this was used to our outfield to focus on preventing the opposition getting the ball into these areas.

Wales 6 A Side Team | Lisbon World Cup | Assistant Coach | 2018

Position 3rd in our group, with two draws and one lost.

This is the first Socca World Cup for Wales, the whole experience was amazing and a massive learning curve. Key repsonsbility was to prepare the players, mainly goalkeepers in the training camps prior and warm up during the tournament.

Gained valuable experience working in an international setting, which provided a unique insight into the diverse cultures and challenges of global football.
